Because you keep harassing me to leave a review. Edit: The 1 star rating stands. I'm still constantly harassed about leaving a review. I'm also paying for the ad free tier but still getting ads at the beginning of every episode. Yes, Paramount/CBS, running an ad for your own content, is still running an ad. I also don't appreciate your racist ads during Feb. It's not surprising, though, when you consider the poor decisions all these streaming services/Hollywood have been making for years now.
Paramount is the worst streaming app out there. Both the phone app and the TV app. This review is primarily for the app on our new LG TV... It's so clunky, very hard to fast forward/rewind, especially if you just need to move few seconds. Unlike other streaming app, Paramount app can't remember when you chose to turn on the caption setting, so you have to keep doing it every. single. time. And it's very difficult just to navigate to change the caption setting. Literally the worst streaming app.
Had this app for two years or so, for free, and it was great. Last several months, it freezes on the splash screen of the Paramount mountain and that's it. Uninstalled and re-installed. Freezes. Updated. Freezes. Cleared cache. Freezes. I'm paying for it now, and we've been unable to use this, which I'm not happy about. What's the deal? You've got more aggravating bugs than Australia! How about fixing them? Isn't that what you're taking our money for?
We have this app on our TV, and the picture quality is iffy, the commercial breaks stall for several minutes before the commercials actually start. (And, can someone please explain to me why we are paying for a streaming service and STILL have to watch ads?) I also have this app on my phone, as, for a while, by casting to the TV, it was the only way to watch the shows without all the glitches. Now, the app doesn't go past the splash screen. Very frustrating!
The absolute worst streaming app on my phone and tv. I've had this on my phone for months, and I've never been able to watch anything. It always stays on the start-up logo page. On the tv, the movie will play but not without constant freezing. I thought that it was possibly my internet connection, but I have no problem with any other streaming services. If all of us users are complaining about the same thing, you all are clearly the problem.
Refuses to load for the past two weeks. I've restarted, Uninstalled/reinstalled and every other recommendation. Galaxy S24 Ultra with great internet yet they still suggest it's an issue on my end. It's already one of the poorest streaming interfaces, couple that with not working most of the time and it's no wonder most people only use it when it's free with something else. Do NOT pay for this; if you don't get it included with something else like Walmart+ it's not even remotely worth it.
I can't watch paramount on anything else but my phone. Lags so bad it'll just close the show/movie out and say, "Can't play this at this time." Even the ads lag and video is grainy to the point that I can't recognize the actors. After an hour, I get a blue screen.... app crashes then I move on to another streaming service because I'm not in the mood to reset my app every hour.
It's great when it works. App crashes/stops working MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK. I have to uninstall and reinstall it at least 2 to 3 times a week at minimum. It's pretty ridiculous, and idk how this isn't fixed yet after a few YEARS of it happening. I always make sure to update it. It will open and just freeze on the blue screen that says paramount. That's when I know I have to uninstall and reinstall because it will not work until I do.
UPDATE 1/30/25: Newest version of app doesn't even work now. No access through the mobile app, just the loading screen. Complete garbage, don't waste your money. Will be canceling service. Despite paying for ad-free, there are still commercials for paramount shows. Constant stream interruptions whether on wi-fi or 5g, the app randomly closes whenever it wants, and the user interface is spotty at best on most platforms. All in all, not a great user experience, and the performance is shoddy.
Great until recently. Downloads don't play longer than 90 seconds without closing out, the app closes if an episode ends and you're using the smaller window to watch, watch history sometimes works but usually doesn't, and lately, I've been getting logged out everytime the app closes itself. Just like other streaming services, they've switched focus from users and functionality to profits and minimized costs, but have seemed to forget that the ability to watch is an integral part of the equation.

In addition to not being able fully access all the promised features of the premium subscription, you can't even get all the shows. Now, you pay for Paramount+, which used to be CBS All Access (and the app worked when it still was). Now, Paramount+, even the top tier, does not include Paramount content... 🤦♀️ Going back to cable is starting to look like a better idea than streaming.
The commercials are excessive and are not timed very well - most TV shows have a natural commercial break built in, but those don't get used. The player doesn't work very well, sometimes several minutes get cut off after an ad break. and the main page of a show always defaults to the first season, not the season currently being watched. Downgraded to one star because the response to my review was to suggest I spend more money, not be concerned that the service being sold is terrible.
It was working this morning then stopped working. I keep getting the error that the episode can't be played and to check the help page. I have done all the troubleshooting it told me to do and it still isn't working. What is happening on my phone happens on my Roku as well and at least once (if not more times) a day I have to restart my Roku. OVER IT! Get it fixed!!
Though this app has improved from when I first started using it, it's still annoyingly buggy. On the TV, it occasionally hangs and fails to load, requiring a force quit to get it to work again. It also often "forgets" that I have the highest tier subscription and disables fast-forward and rewind, even when watching subsequent episodes of a show. Streaming quality has improved but still hangs or studders occasionally when I don't have this problem w other services. Should be better.
Just started using this last month it's literally the worst streaming service I've ever interacted with. It's bugged so even as soon as the day you pay you fee, it'll give you constant pop ups about updating your payment method. Even though there's nothing to update and you paid 12 hours ago. It's also impossible to get an agent to talk to in the app support. Said "1 minute wait time" and 15 minutes later still nothing. what a joke. Canceling for how annoying it is
EDIT: Glad I got a free trial to come back. This is THE WORST streaming app. Bad controls. Bad at tracking your place if you leave. Just, bad. It's quite frustrating that every single time I start up the app, I have to click to continue watching my show, then click again to actually resume, then click AGAIN because it goes back to the home page. But only once - it's not random...
This app is not as user-friendly as other streaming services, and i have many. It freezes up so much and then errors out. gets frustrating due to how often it happens and cant enjoy a full show or movie without this happening. Rewinding or fast forward is a nightmare. If you're watching a show, it doesn't always start where you stop, but you have to get past the load screen. or the sound will cut out completely. I wish the shows I like were on a different platform. 😕
I pay for ad-free, and yet sometimes see ads in the middle of what I'm watching. I'd also like to be able to close a video without going to picture-in-picture mode. It would also be nice to remove shows/movies from "Continue Watching" in the Android app instead of only on web. Also, sometimes shows that I haven't clicked on at all show up in my "Continue Watching". This is so annoying and eerie. I'm positive I'm the only person with access to my account.
I love Paramount+ content, but their apps stink. I typically cast from my phone to TV because the LG TV app is basically unusable. Unfortunately, sometimes casting from TV results in non-English audio that cannot be changed. Recently, the app stopped casting audio. Only video. Forced to use the LG TV app again, but it is constantly buffering and it is nearly impossible to choose things from the menu. It's like being on dial up. Hopefully these issues will be fixed once the merger is completed.
This is such a garbage app. I can't access the support page because it won't let me do anything without signing in, then it won't let me sign in so I can get support. half the time it won't load on my TV, and when it does then I often can't pause the show I'm watching without exiting the app entirely. I pay for premium service and get less than basic accessibility. At least they have a wide selection of shows and movies, I guess. super disappointed with the service I get.
